For those that don’t know, MeeMee is an exciting addition to our family through the Host Home program. You’ll see lots more of her over time. For now she seems to be settling in well, and we are enjoying getting to know her better.

Here’s another pic of her and Jonathan while the dogs redouble their efforts to get pets …

McCain campaign

I don’t mind the Republicans calling us, the Democrats are doing the same thing.  But when did trying to convince someone to vote for you become telemarketing instead of a discussion?? You can’t convince someone by not listening to them.  The Republicans have been calling us all day, I finally
picked up and this shrill woman started ranting about how the democrats
are weak on … something, I stopped listening and tried to talk to her
and politely tell her she was wasting her time and get this … she
didn’t even stop talking!!  She didn’t even PAUSE, she just kept going
a mile a minute.  It was like I wasn’t even talking.  So I yelled into the phone that this house will NEVER
vote Republican, quit calling, and hung up.  At least they quit
calling.  I saw their number come up 6 times today.

That is just SO indicative of everything they stand for … even their
political callers don’t try to convince you, they just do telemarketing
tricks.  Discourse is dead.

In any case, this web site is hilarious and fun to play with: http://www.palinaspresident.us/

whine

Oh and remember how laaast weekend I mentioned the running back and forth to work?  And called it sucky?  Um well yeah that was bad luck apparently, because I’ve put in 20 hours of solid work this weekend, including 12 hours on Saturday.  And hosted a party with 25+ people.  W00t!

random

Need to write a longer post but life has been hectic, what with welcoming MeeMee to our home.  More on that later.

The random thought: I was just baiting mousetraps (thanks for the recommendation Bill & Ruthann, those really ARE a better mousetrap) with cheese, and there was a little bit of mold starting on the cheese.  As I was cutting it off, I thought … wait.  So you’re cutting off the mold so the mouse doesn’t get sick … after you kill it?  Autopilot FTW.

Small newsy stuff … sold the motorcycle yesterday.  Happy to have it gone after not riding it for a year.  We are thinking about buying a used Honda Element to accommodate the sudden increase in our brood on road trips.  Not sure how else we will be able to travel with both kid and dogs.  It is only ONE mpg worse than the Cavalier for highway driving, so that’s not much of a loss.

Max and I cleaned up the yard today and packed all the summer gear into the garage.  Tired but good to have it done.  Max is at the orchestra.  I’ve been running in to work off and on all day to flip in new backup tapes that we are searching for some old database backups.  Sucks to be the one who lives closest AND the manager … gotta take on the sucky stuff sometimes to build up capital for those times you gotta ask folks to take on other major suckage.  *shrug*  Last weekend/week I put up two walls full of track shelving for our
clothes in the other part of our bedroom.  10 shelves total, about 5′
long each.  Of course some will require a ladder to reach.  🙂
