Fantastic, laidback day today. Hung out this morning and got ready slowly, then hit a place called Savor for brunch in the Noe Valley neighborhood around noon. Took a streetcar to Dolores Park for the Easter Sunday festival, which was not exactly religious. Let’s just say it included a hunky Jesus lookalike competition … nuff said. The park was packed with people and showed a big slice of SF’s gay community. Around five we walked over to Castro and Market and walked around the gay-oriented shops for a while. Cliff’s store is something to behold … a gay oriented hardware / cooking / science experiments / hobby / ??? shop with the most eclectic merchandise you can imagine in one store. After lots of walking around and seeing the various shops, which from all the guidebooks we’ve read is really the way to see SF (exploring the neighborhoods), we yelped (neat site, yelp.com, that’s new to me and has a version for Mpls – will definitely use this in the future) for the nearest sushi place and ended up at Warakubune. I have only on this trip started eating sushi again after a nasty food poisoning incident with uni that happened years ago, and this was awesome because I got to add in the experience of the floating sushi boats! Always meant to do that, they have one place in Mpls but never got around to it.
